Want to start communicating science?

Social media

Every type of platform has its own advantages. Facebook is great to share information with friends, Instagram allows you to reach a younger public, Twitter is better to be picked up by press and LinkedIn is the way to go for a more professional message.

Your local institution

All universities and many other institutions have a dedicated department taking care of communication. You can reach out to them and propose your idea for outreach. They can help you spread your message through their platforms.

Press

In some cases, you can directly contact media representatives and discuss your idea for communication. Writing and sending a press release is important and can be supported by your local institution's communication department.

The Universiteit van Vlaanderen gives a platform to scientists who teach extraordinary classes in all types of subjects.

EOS is a popular science magazine, in which scientists can share their stories or write opinion pieces and blogs about interesting topics.

TED-Ed is a platform where educational videos on diverse topics, such as sciences, history and philosophy are posted regularly. Educators can be nominated. Their lesson will be curated and animated by a professional team.

This platform collects science communication initiatives, vacancies and activities in Flanders.
