Girls in Science

Girls in science: Text

Science as a career choice

As a female scientist, working with many female colleagues, the gender imbalance in life science research seems almost irrelevant today. However, in particular branches of academic and industrial research, women are still underrepresented. This does not necessarily have to be problematic. People with different genders have different interests and often different talents. All in all, we just have to be able to do what we like. It is essential that secondary school students are offered a complete picture of the possibilities out there. How else, can we know what we like? When the options are presented, guided match-making between one's interests and talents will lead to motivated students and employees.
